About Me

I am an accountant/financial analyst by education and trade, and - I believe - a Math advocate-activist by vocation.  I was #2 of 6 children born to musical/medical parents, and exposed to as much education, dance and travel as they could equitably afford.  I took it all for granted as a child, but their choices framed my curiosity and fueled my love for learning...formally and informally.  Psychology was my first degree choice, but consistently high Math scores and an unexpected bookkeeping position in the Jackson County Public Administrator's office, pointed me toward a more practical B.S. Accounting degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.   It was there that I learned that Accounting is "an art and a science," and that both require dedication and discipline.  It was there, also, that a part-time job in a tutoring program called Transitional Year planted the seeds for what was to become my life mission:  "To learn...to grow...and to share what I know with those who cross my paths."
